An inventory was taken, 15 March, 1691/2, by Josiah Hol m e s and Caleb Williamson. No real estate was mentioned. When Plymouth Colony was divided, in 1685, into Plymout h C o unty, Barnstable County and Bristol County, the six v olum e s of Plymouth Colony Records of Deeds were retaine d in t h e Plymouth County Registry, and for several year s continu e d to be used for recording transfers of land. The separate series of Plymouth County Records of Deed s w a s begun 6 August, 1686, by Nathaniel Thomas; and it i s in te resting to note that the first deed recorded* was o ne ma d e nearly forty years earlier, in 1648, and then wit nesse d b y John Alden, who in 1686, as an Assistant, too k the ac know ledgment of the original grantor, Robert Bark er.
