Attended Lancaster Ac ademy; graduated from Wofford College, A.B., 1876; read la w in offices of William Moore of Lancaster and A. C. Spai n of Darlington; admitted to S. C. Bar in 1880. Married, fi rst, Minnie Caldwell Lawrence of Tuscaloosa, Ala., in 1881 ; second, Harriet McIver Ervin, September 14, 1892. Princip al of Timmonsville school, 1877-78. Deputy clerk of court , Darlington County, 1878. Lawyer in Darlington. County Dem ocratic executive committee; secretary-treasurer, chairman . S. C. House of Representatives, Darlington, 1884-86.
