"Downingtown Friends Meeting", pages 47-48:
"George Thomas served on the Commission which planned and later constructed the Philadelphia-Lancaster Turnpike. He made a map in 1792 projecting the course of the highway before it was built. He died in 1793 of Yellow Fever which he had contracted from a trip to Philadelphia to attend a meeting of the Commission."
