    Nutter Webb was born ca 1765, the son of Jonas, Jr. and Elizabeth (Nutter) Webb.  He marr ied (1) Anna Cunningham, the daughter of Adam Cunningham, on January 20, 1789, in Harrison Co unty, VA.  Nutter was one of the early settlers of Ritchie County, and he was the first black smith in that vicinity.   Anna (Cunningham) Nutter died 1825\1826 in Wood County, and Nutte r then married Mrs. Mary (Stafford) Rogers, on January 22, 1827, in Wood County, VA.  Nutte r died in August, 1833 and is buried in the Webb Cemetary in Ritchie County, WV.   Mary (Staf ford) (Rogers) Webb, appears in the 1850 census of Gilmer County, VA, living with a son fro m her first marriage.

I am looking for any info regarding my greatgrandfather, George W. Stafford. He married Rosan na Freshour on Feb 28, 1889, in Calhoun County. They were the parents of four children, my gr andmother, Bessie Stafford Selmon, Uncle Okey, Aunt Jennie, and Aunt Kathryn. Any info on hi s parents, place of birth, siblings, ANYTHING, would be greatly appreciated as I have hit a b rick wall on this. Thank you

Surname: Stafford

Tilly - You may want to look in Preston, Taylor and Monongalia Counties for your Staffords. My ancest or, Mary Stafford (b.abt.1790-d.abt.1869), lived in that area where those three counties meet . She was the daughter of James and Lucreita Stafford. She married Robert Rogers and moved t o the Smithville area around 1815. Robert Rogers died, and she then married Nutter Webb. Mr . Webb died in 1833, and in 1840 she moved with at least four of her sons to the Yellow Cree k area of Calhoun County. She may have kept in contact with family in the Preston/Taylor/Mono ngalia County area.

GEORGE W. ROGERS

     George K. Rogers, son of Robert and Mary (Stafford) Rogers, long since deceased, was bor n in Taylor County, Virginia, on the last day of the year 1813. He came to what is now Calhou n County, West Virginia in November 1839, and is the oldest pioneer of Sheridan district.
     He built the first grist and saw mill in the district, on Yellow Creek, in 1841 and 1842 , and his business has always been that of a miller and farmer. In Taylor County, West Virgin ia, December 27, 1863, he married Cynthia Ann, daughter of Joab and Catherine (Bartlett) Wolv erton. She was born in Hampshire County, Virginia, August 30, 1826. The children of her marri age with Mr. Rogers are three: James William, born October 11, 1864; Sophia P., February 22 , 1868; John W., born March 9, 1872. By a former marriage she had been the mother of eight ch ildren, of whom seven are living. These children are Bennett Saunders, born February 19, 1846 ; Rebecca C., April 5, 1847, died February 13, 1866; Sarah E., May 24, 1849; Mary Agnes, Jul y 6, 1851; Joab W., July 15, 1854; George W., March 1, 1857; Lucy Ann. October 24, 1859; Albe rt J., September 18, 1862. Mr. Rogers receives his mail at Big Bend.
