General Notes (Husband)
Browning is an Anglo-Saxon word, earlier was Bruning and cause (probably should be came) from the German way back in the early centuries. The name was spelled in various ways, namely: Brunning, Bruening, Browneing, Brinning, Brininge, Browninge, etc. Earliest form of this was according to the poet, Robert Browing, "De Bruni," which was the name of the ancient Germanic tribes who inhabited the northern part of Germany around the shores of the Baltic Sea. According to the scholar, John Aaron Browning, the form of the word in high German was Brauning, and in low German Bruning. Those different forms of this name may still be found in Germany. When the Brunings migrated from Germany to England, the Anglo-Saxons changed the name to Browning. The word Bruning may mean 'less brown" than their neighbors or may mean that they originally came from the meadows such as surround the shores of the Baltic Sea.
After the flood, Noah and his wife and their three sons and their wives were the only living persons who survived, and the Bible tells us that Japheth and his descendants went to the land where the garden of Eden was originally located between the rivers Euphrate and Tegris, {sic} in the southern part of Asia. Japheth's descendants remained there and became the great Assyrian nation. In after ages some of them journeyed westward, crossing the Caucasian Mountains into Europe settling in Germany and dividing into many tribes. The Romans conquered many of these tribes near Italy but not those to the north among which were the De Bruni who were a war-like tribe. After the decline of the Roman power and the return to Rome of the Roman soldiers the Britains and Celts were left unprotected, so the Northern German tribes, including the De Bruni, sailed to Britain in about 450 A.D. conquered the Britain and settled their land, where they were absorbed after many vears with the Anglo-Saxon, most of them being farmers, a few took up professions. A religious intolerence by the Chorch of England caused the migration of the Puritans to America in 1620, and soon after that others followed and among the first was:
