DEATH: Asa died and was buried in the Variety Mills section of Nelson County, Virginia.

BIOGRAPHY: Asa moved with his parent to Vermont around age 8 and learned the tanners trade.


BIOGRAPHY: Asa Stratton married Dorothy Parker in1809 in Cavendish, VT., and purchased land in this town in 1810, 1811, and 1814.  In 1812 Dorothy died and in 1814 he married her sister Salome.  Salome diedthe following year.  In 1818 he moved south and settled in the Variety Mills section of Nelson County.  He became a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church of Nelson County, and in 1833 he married for a third time to Elizabeth Whitehead

BIOGRAPHY: Alexander started in business early in life, in Amherst Co., Va., and moved to Lynchburg about 1858, where he became a successful dry goods merchant and was prominent in the business, political and religious interests in the town.

Floyd joined the Confederate Army when the Civil War broke out.  He was Postmaster and also a business man in Liberty, Massissippi where he lived from his youth.
