BIOGRAPHY: William served three years in the Federal Army in Company E, 89th new York; started out as a Private, enlisted 16, Sept. 1861, discharged as Sergeant, 6 Oct 1864 at Bermuda Hundred, Virginia.  Took part in over 20 battles and skirmishes--Antietam, Fredericksburg, Cold Harbor and Petersburg.
