BIO: Rosemary WILLIAMS, in researching death and burial records of the MOW family for this compiler, made a photocopy of page 114 of the "Fulton County Cemetery Index." This page is a part of the listing for "Lutheran Cem., Newcastle Twp." Row 6 of this cemetery contains the grave of a relative of a Henry BOWMAN, a miller, who resided in Aubbeennaubee Twp. In a discussion following this listing, appears data on another "Henry BAUMAN" (also spelled BOWMAN), who purchased land in Fulton County, Wayne Twp. about 1841. Concerning Mary, the wife of James WEIR, the following statements were made: "...This Henry BAUMAN, born in Penn., 26 Sept. 1791, died 10 Oct. 1849. His widow, Elizabeth, also born in Penn. 19 Nov. 1797, died 4 Dec. 1862. In 1860 she was living with the family of her dau. Mary and son-in-law James WEIR (ALSO SPELLED ware). Levi (1819-1873) son of Henry & Elizabeth BAUMAN, m. 1843 Sarah GOSS (Fulton Co., Ind. Marriage Records..." Compiler has made assumptions that Mary, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth BAUMAN, was probably born before the family came to Fulton County, pershaps about 1835. She may have been born in PA, but could also have been born somewhere between Fulton Co. and the area of PA where her brother, Levi, was born approximately 10 years before her. This article would also give evidence that Mary and James WEIR were married in Fulton County sometime before 1860, when Mary's mother was enumerated in their home on the census.

BIO: Wilma FOLTZ provided the following obituary for George WEIR.
September 24, 1927 George Weir, aged 60, a well known farmer of the Richland Center neighborhood passed away at his home shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday morning. Death resulted from a cancerous infection and an attack of influenza. The deceased had been in ill health for the last two years although his condition was not regarded as serious until the past few days. George, the son of James and Mary Weir, was born on a farm near Richland Center on April 19, 1867 and has resided in that vicinity all of his life. On August 18, 1888 he was united in marriage to Sarah Mowe. Mr. Weir was a member of the IOOF Lodge of Richland Center. The deceased is survived by his wife and three sons, Harold of near Richland Center, Howard of South Bend and Herman at home. The funeral services will be held at the Richland Center Church with the Rev. John Dean in charge. Burial will be made in the adjacent cemetery.
Compiler's Note: The obituary states the cause of death was cancer and influenza; death records at the Bd. of Health give the cause as "Cancer of the jaw and liver."
