I n 1865he was a representative fro m Calho un Co unty to t he Mi chigan statelegislature. In S eptember , 1886 , he move d fro m the farm to Battle Creek , Michigan .Heatte nded schoo ls i n M arshall and Albion , Michigan, b ut retur ned homeaft er th e death of his bro ther Wheeler B each to h elp run th e famil y farm.
