" Oliver, son of Stokeley and Ann, livedinCaroline where he was
lieutenant of a troop of horse in 1742.July12, 1745, "Richard Taliaferro and Oliver Towles, gents,trustees of Port Royal", filed the plat(map or plan) of that town(Port Royal is now in South Carolina).October 2, 1751, Stokeley Towles"of Culpepper," made a deed of
gift of the old plantation in Middlesex toOliver.March 9, 1758, his nephew Oliver (apparently son of hisbrotherJohn), called "Oliver Jr." prior to 1770,entered into articleswith Obediah Merriott (to study law?) andOliver, Sr. was surety. Theremaining records of Caroline show thatthe latter resided there untilMay, 1770, when he died inSpotslvania County. ... nothingfoundsuggests that he left issue. The "Mary Gillison, now Towles"witnessto the will of John Roy of Carolina on October 10, 1734,wasprobably his wife."
