General Notes (Husband)

He attended the public school, graduating from Winona High School.Heserved in the Secret Service of the Navy during World War I.
He was Editor and business manager of the "Winona Times" from1926to1929. He is a graduate of the School of Military Aeronautics,University of Texas. During World War I he served from October 1917toMarch 1918, in the Aviation intelligence Division of the UnitedStatesNavy. In 1930 he accepted-a position in the Office of SecretaryofState, Jackson, Miss. Member American Legion twenty-five years;BlueLodge Mason, Eastern Star.(Authority; Edward Loggins Sr., Winona,Mississippi, In Mississippi History Montgomery County, Vol. 49,WarMemorial Bldg., Jackson, Miss. He died June 20, 1944, withMilitaryhonors. A firing Squad from the 8th Naval Base,Millington, TNhadcharge of the service at the Cemetery. Flags at both the Old andNewCapitols, Jackson, Miss., were lowered at half mast. The OfficeofSecretary of State, Walker Wood, was closed for the day outofrespect. Mrs. Elsie C. Trotter, wife of the late Leon McleanTrotterhas been connected with the Office of Secretary of State,Jackson,Mississippi, offhand on for fourteen years, serving in aclericalcapacity, and since 1943 has served as Secretary in the abovenamedoffice, and is still employed in that capacity.
