 " -------Vaughan was born and raised in Laurance County------grewupand married/his wife being (Miss ------ Moore he bought agreatboundary of land ---upper part of Oconee him and his wife ---twentyslaves took possession of their ---- homes.  To this unioneightchildren were born Avery, Van and Butler, Joe Vica and Nancy andNash,Cullwell, three of the boys saw service in Confederate war,Avery,Van and Butler.  Avery and Van were killed and buried on battlefield.Butler said the most painful of all the scenes was when hisfirstcousin Bill Moore was shot down. (The two fought side by side.) One time Butler had the typhoid fever and getting along nicely, hesaidhe was so hungry he could ate up the kitchen one day as old blackmammywas going to the dining room with a plate of biscuits he calledher tohim and raked three or four biscuits from the plate under thecover andate all of them."  copied from handwritten sheet found withTheAlbertson Clan book.
