The BEACH FAMILY MAGAZINE, Vol. II, No. 3, p. 71, give s t h e year of his death as "1915", but this is clearly a typographical error . H e s aw service in the Revolution. Following the war he moved to Lake Champla i n , New York, c. 1790, and later settled in Canada. His descendants form the la r g est portion of the Canadian branch of the early New Haven Beach family.

He moved with his parents to Essex, New York, in 1795, t h e n to Plattsburgh, New York, and finally to South Gower Township, Grenvill e C o unty, Ontario, Canada, c. 1800. He was made a lieutenant in the First R e g iment of the Grenville Militia in 1826 and rose to the rank of lieuten a n t colonel and commanding officer of the Fourth Battalion in 1860. He obtained a B.A. from the University of Michigan an d l a w degree from Miami University. He was a captain of the infantry, U.S. Arm y d u ring World War II. He fought at Bataan and survived the infamous "Death Mar c h " only to be wounded and killed while being evacuated from the Philippine s t o J apan in January, 1945.
