NAME Mikhail "The Brave" Yaroslavich, Grand Duke of Vladimir. The Augustan. #36. +1249; at Moskva 1246-1249. Mikhail II Yaroslavich (1249). The sons of Konstantin Vasevolodovich died during the Mongol invasion (their descendents founded the principalities of Rostov and Yaroslavl), so the succession devolved upon the sons of Yaroslav. The first reign was a usurpation by his third son, the Prince of Moskva, and the eventual center of the East Slavic State briefly enters the spotlight. Mikhail is quickly eliminated and the legitimate heir takes over.
