         NOTES: Per CD100:  "(8-009) b. ca. 1548 Uppe r G r a v enhurst, Beds;
         bur. 28 NOV 1598 Up Grav; m. Elenor RADCLIFFE?"

         Per Bergetta Monroe (20 SEP 1995, citing Ame r i c a n Genealogy; Vol-
         ume 32, No. 2, pp. 129-142):  "John Whitebre a d b o r n about 1525,
         married Alice Battell."  John and Alice Batt e l l W h itebread had 7
         children the fourth being Alice who married G e r a r d Spencer on 10
         NOV 1600.  The Spencer Society listed ELEANO R R A D C LIFFE as Alice
         Whitebread's mother and John Whitebread as Al i c e ' s father. Alice
         may have been born in Upper Gravenhurst."

         Per Bergetta Monroe (20 SEP 1995, citing Mo n r o e , Paul; My Mon-
         roe Family [1966]):  "The following English an c e s t ry of William
         Spencer of New England is taken from the M s s . o f H erbert R.
         Spencer, 'Line of Descent of Garard Spencer 15 7 6 - 1 646, from Henry
         Spencer of Badby,    Northamptonshire,    Engl a n d . ' -- "Vol. 3
         of Bedfordshire Notes and Quires. Pages 30 2 - 3 a r e abstracts of

         Alice was his daughter.  [John] Whitebread d i e d 1 6 02."
