Julia Ida Wilcox was born in Streetsboro, Ohio, Jun e 1 , 1 8 8 6, the seventh in a family of thirteen children , an d da ug ht er of Charles E. and Ida (Packer) Wilcox. H er ma terna l g rea t-grandparents were Josiah Combs and Je sse Pa cker , bot h ear ly settlers in Streetsboro and Auro ra, com ing r espect ivel y from Connecticut in 1837 and Ve rmont i n 1835 . Her pa terna l great-grandparents were Ale xander W ilcox a nd Josep h (sic ) Diver, early settlers i n Deerfiel d, Ohio , coming f rom Mas sachusetts in 1816. ( Ed. note: G reat-gra ndparent sh ould rea d 'grandparent' f or Alexander . Josep h is incorrect . Julia' s great- grand parent was Jo hn Diver , not Joseph.) She graduated from Streetsboro High School and Ohio Uni v e r s ity (two years Normal) then taught school 39 year s i n C le ve land public schools. Locations included Downi ng ( 17 y ear s) , Harper (8), and Sackett (14 years).
