This man is confused by some early genealogists with Jos e p h Beach(4), Benjamin(3) Azariah(2) Richard(1), who resided at Durha m , C onnecticut, whereas this Joseph Beach lived at Waterbury. He escaped the "Wyoming Massacre" in July, 1778, and in the fall o f t h at year moved to Fort Jenkins, Columbia County, Pennsylvania. In 1779 h e c r ossed over to Northampton County, near Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and ass i s ted in the building of block houses in the area during the Revolution. In 1 7 9 4 he was a captain of the militia.
