He had fifteen children, most of whom return e d t o the United States. Toward the end of his life William Beach moved to Dunha m T o wnship, Mississquoi County, Quebec, where he appears on the 1851 Census wit h h i s wife and several of his younger children.

The BEACH FAMILY MAGAZINE, Vol. II, No. 3, p. 164, sugge s t s he "lived in Detroit, Mich., in 1825," but this is in error since he d i e d in 1804. The family Bible says he married Betsey Lockwood "in 1789" , b u t he would have been only 9 years old at that time, such that 1799 seem s m o re likely. It is unknown if he had children.

He is thought to have accompanied his broth Silas to Mich i g an in the early 1800's and is probably the same Rufus Beach of Wayne Coun t y , Michigan, who enlisted in the Black Hawk War on 18-Jul-1832. A Rufus B e a ch was likewise appointed Justice of the Peace for Wayne County, Michig a n , in 1835. Note also the Rufus Beach living at Troy, Oakland County, Michiga n , i n the early 1800's who is said to have converted to Mormonism and moved west.
