See notes under mother, Flora G. Redfield, for probable descendancy info. RD memo: The descendancy from Flora G. Redfield is based on the memories of Dorothy Dana Downing provided to me in 1997. The photo of the three children o Carrie came from Dorothy Dana's baby album. As the names on the photos match the recollections of DDD exactly, I have elected to include the link in this database; it is subject to a degree of doubt.
The family lived in Mayfield, Illinois, in the 1920's. Death date of "aft 1936" based on a card in family files dated 1936 from Carrie and Luke (known as "Lou") congratulating family on my birth. Thus, they were both alive at that time.[Downing.ged]
Carrie Effie Wood was born just two years after the death of her mother's sister in 1877 at age 14. That child was Carrie Effie Redfield. Thus, it is obvious that she was named in honor of her late aunt by her mother. There is a small card in my files that was received by my parents in 1936 signed by Carrie congratulating them on my birth. It is signed, "Carrie and Lou". The recollections of my aunt, Dorothy Dana (Downing) Egnell has Carrie and he husband living in Maywood, Illinois, a Chicago suburb, in 1920.

Allen's neice, Twila (Blankenship) Travis, wrote of her uncle's death in a letter dated April 12, 2000. It says:
"Before I go further I need to tell you about my Uncle's death. My mom's brother, Allen Beech, died Monday, April 2. The funeral was April 5 and he was buried at Crestlawn Cemetery in Atlanta.
"He went in for post-op in February for knee replacement and at that time they discovered he had cancer. He had some of the same test in December and there was no evidence of any cancer at that time. consequently, he did not hav the knee surgery and started treatment for the cancer. However, it was a very fast spreading cancer and spread throughout his body very quickly. The good news was that he never had much pain. He was mentally alert until the last couple of days. We took Mom to see him on Thursday before he died and she had little time with him when he was still alert and recognized her and talked with her. Mom has done well, but it was hard for her since this was her last sibling."
My note: Allen's death entry into this database was the first one I have ha to make in 2000, years starting with a "2". It gave me cause for reflection.
