General Notes (Husband)



James T. Beers died of a heart attack in Harrisburg, Ill. He was just appointed principal of HTHS, after having been assistant principal, and suffered the attack while working at the school mid-morning.  He died in Lightner Hospital at 4:30. He and Edna moved to Harrisburg in 1946 and served as a science teacher and athletic coach. He attended McKendree College at Lebanon for three years, then received his Bachelor's degree in Education from Southern Illinois University and Master's from the Univ. of Illinois.  He was a member of First Methodist Church. He was a lieutenant in the U. S. Navy for three years in World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre.  Member of American Legion. Besides Edna, Jane Ellen, a daughter survives. Burial at Salem Cemetery near Carrier MIlls.
