According to Patsy Strode, Benjamin Franklin Benton was known as 'Doc'. He was born 4/24/1836 in Shelby County AL and diied 1/12/1900 in Trinity County, TX. Other information she has on this 'Doc' Benton seem to match what else my dad found out about Benjamin Franklin Benton. I will therefore use her information for this man since all that my dad had found out was that he was born about 1831, probably in LA.

"Doc" Franklin Benton was elected Baliff of Shelby County,AL November 4 1862 and Sheriff in Trinity County TX for one or more terms. "Doc" Franklin Benton moved from AL to Trinity County TX immmediately after marrying Hettie Ann Morris (July 21, 1865). Their 1st child was born in Trinity county TX August 6, 1886. His sister Evaline Benton Meredith and her husband, Pleasant w.Mereddith & their family moved to Trinity Co., TX in 1860 or before, as they were living there when the 1860 census was taken.
The reason that "Doc" Franklin Benton moved to Texas was because his redlatives in AL objected to him marrying Hettie Ann Morris--her being so young--and his sister begging him to come to Texas as the opportunities were much greater to earn a living there.

The birthdate and place information is from Patsy as are the following notes. I have left her death date as 1931. There is still a discrepancy as to whether it was 1921 or 1931. Clara Birta Cornish said 1931when my dad spoke with her before her death in 1984.
Julia is buried in Campground Cemetery in Calhoun County AR. Her death date was listed as 1921 (All other sources say 1931).
