Rev. Samuel DeWitt was an officer in the company of Capt. Wilkinson (Grandfather of Pevton Wilkinson) in the war of 1812. The ancesters of Samuel had fought in the Revolutionary War. His wife's Grandfather was killed in the battle of King's Mountain and her uncle Henry Wakefield was shot throught the breast but lived to be 106 years old.
