Sion was living with his father at the time the 1850 and 1860 Henderson County, TN census ws taken.  On the 1870 Henderson County, TN census, he was living with his uncle, Wiley Carrington.  For the 1880 Carroll County, TN census, he was head of his own household, surname was spelled BOLAN.  For the 1900 Carroll County, TN census, his surname was spelled BOLEN.  Dee Ann Buck has a picture of his family taken around 1888, it shows him with a full beard, dark in color.
