General Notes for Child John Alin Bomer
John's birthplace is unknown; however, I believe that he was born in Maury County, Tennessee as was his first wife, Kizsiriah. John Bomer was a farmer and a livestock man and was said by some to have practiced veterinary medicine.
Their first two children were born in Maury County prior to the families move to Hico, Kentucky (Calloway County) in 1856-1858 where they remained until after 1860. By 1870 they moved to Clear Spring, Kentucky in Graves County. They remained there until about 1880 when they moved to Benton, in Scott County, Southeast Missouri.
Although John was illiterate, Kizsiriah could read and write. She was said to have been very active in the Presbyterian Church and may have taught religion.
Four sons and one daughter moved to Texas and made their homes in the vicinity of Athens and Tyler. Those that moved were: John Crittenden Bomer, Gidian J. Piller Bomer, George Jefferson Bomer, and Verona (Verdia) [ Bomer ] Matney. Their descendants now live throughout Texas, in New Mexico, and in Colorado.
Two sons and one daughter remained in Missouri. They were: James Fredrick Bomer (James' son 'Pompey John' eventually moved to Colorado), Asa Bain Bomer, and Virginia Tennessee Bomer (married James Hutchason).
One son remained in, or returned to, northwestern Tennessee. William Wesley Bomer has many descendants in and around Henry, Carroll, and Weakley Counties, and in Ohio.
After Kitty’s death John Alin remarrie, about 1890, at Benton, Missouri to Sarah [O'Dell] Hand. There were three children by this marriage: Clayton (Claty) Bomer, Cynthia Mullen Bomer, and Minnie Mae Bomer. The only child to survive to adulthood was Cynthia. Her descendants live throughout Missouri
John Alin Bomer's date of death is uncertain. His tombstone is marked 27 June 1904, it is entered in the Family Bible as 27 June 1894 (proven incorrect), and court records of Scott County, Missouri suggest it may have been before 1902. He was not enumerated with his second wife, Sarah Hand Bomer in the 1900 census.
John Alin and Kizsiriah are buried in the Pollard Cemetery, 6 miles East of Benton, Missouri.

Name probably William Wesly Bomar and called 'Willie,' but misspelled 'Wiley'. However, some pronounce it Y-LEE, which is normally spelled Wylie.
Kizsiriah Jane Bomer's Family Bible states "Wiley W B departed this life Nov. the 6 1858"
For many years this was thought to be Wiley Bethel Bomer, second son of John and Kizsiriah. A Bible entry "Wiley Bethel Bomer was bornd March the 25 1858,” along with the above, made some researchers think that Wiley died when 9 months old. However, the middle initial does not match.
It was later found that Wiley Bethel Bomer was alive and well at the time of the 1860 census, in Calloway County, Kentucky. It was also found that this Wiley Bomer of nearby Trigg County, Kentucky (Calloway County's Eastern neighbor) died "about a year" prior to the 1860 census).
Since both Wiley and John Alin had numerous similarities in naming of their children, it is safe to assume that they were closely related and most likely brothers.

The 1840 Maury county Tennessee census shows a boy, age 10-14, living in the household of Mary D. Bowman in Civil District 25.
On 8 June, 1847 Davis Bomar obtained a marriage license to marry Caroline Truelove in Maury county, Tennessee. There was no return recorded for this license.
A record of birth for J. D. (James David?) Bomar was found in Trigg county, Kentucky, for 7 December 1854. The parents are listed as David Bomar and Anna Cosey.
Wiley Bomer's son David Monroe was born in Trigg county in 1854. David Monroe was probably named after his uncle David.

George was a meteorologist for the United States Weather Bureau and lived in Kansas City, Kansas at the time of his death in March of 1980. George and Alene published a manuscript, BOMER FAMILY HISTORY in 1955, with updates in 1958 and 1966. Their work was the 'seed' for my endeavor and furnished me with the first 400 names that got me started in this never- ending search.
