Thomas Bonney (also Goodman Bonney) was the first o f t h e family in America. He was an emigrant on the shi p Herc ul es of Sandwich, England. This boat was 200 tons , John W ith erly, Master. "Bound for the plantation calle d New Eng lan d in America with certificates from the minis ters wher e the y last dwelt, of their conversation and con formity t o the o rders and discipline of the church and th at they ha d take n the oath of allegiance and supremacy."
Among other passengers named appears: "Tho.Bone y a n d Hon. Ewell of Sandwich shoemakers, Certificates fro m Th o . Warren, rector of St. Peters in Sandwich, 14 Mar . 1634."

In August 1643, the number of those in each town betw e e n the ages of 16 and 60, able to bear arms, was ascerta in e d by the court, and their names recorded. Those of Du xbu r y were: Thomas Bonney and others.
From 1643 to 1644 Thomas Bonney was a constble at Dux b u ry. "This was an office of high trust and responsibili t y a nd none were elected to it but men of good standing . " Wins or.

"It will be remembered that when, on Decem - 10th, 16 7 5 , the forces of Massachusetts Colony were mustered on D ed ha m Plain, to march against the governor, that if the y pla ye d the man, took the fort and drove the enemy out o f th e Nar raganset country, which is their great seat, the y sho uld ha ve a gratuity of land, besides their wages.
We find that after they had performed the service , a n d the war was long past, the soldiers were not forget fu l o f their claim, nor the colony unmindful of its oblig ati on." Page 438.

William Bonney of Duxbury had land at Namasakeeset in 1 6 9 4 and he died or removed from Duxbury before 1710.
From MD 4:4
William Clarke of Duxbury made his will 3 January, 1686 / 7 . Bequests were as follows:
To "wife Martha my Eighteen acre Lot with ye orchard ther e i n" "if william Clarke of Plimouth or any other pretending re l a tion to me by blood Expect any of my estate I give him only 18d in silv e r ."
To "william bonny (whom I brought up from his Childhoo d ) m y dwelling house and threescore acre lot togather with all my household st u f f and Cattle of all sorts remaining at my wives decease provided and up o n c ondition that he the sd William Bonny live and remiane in the abovesaid ho u s e with my wife Martha and be carefull to manage and till my land and w e l l Improve my stock for my wives support and comfort according to her advic e , d uring her life, otherwise the sd house land household stuff and stock sh a l l be and remaine in the power and at the only dispose of my wife Martha to g a ther with all debts moneys &c." Wife Martha was made executrix.
The will was signed by a mark. The witnesses were John W a d sworth, Sr., and Ichabod Wiswall. The will was probated 8 June, 1687, b o t h witnesses testifying, at the Inferior Court of Common Pleas, at Ply m o uth.
On 9 March, 1686/7, an inventory of the personal estat e w a s taken by John Soule and John Wadsworth, Sr. The amount was £49, 16s . " M artha Clarke made oath" to the inventory, 8 June, 1687. It was recor d e d by Nathaniel Thomas, Clerk.
On 21 July, 1688, on complaint of "Martha Clarke of Duxbo r o ugh widow" that "William Boney whome her late Husband and she Brough t u p o f a child hath in disorderly maner deserted her Imployment and is Gone a w a y from her and so hath bin absent from her house about three weeks" a warr a n t for his arrest was issued.
"William Boney being brought before me" on 7 August, 16 8 8 , "Answered that he then being of full age when he left her thought he mi g h t then provide for himself as accordingly he had done. The Widdow Cla r k e Desired her husbands will might be Readd to him which was according l y d one And with Respect to ye legecy therein bequeathed to him upon Condi t i on of his Dwelling with her and manageing of her business for her d u r ing her life he would goe home with her and fulfill the said Conditio n a n d Enjoy ye legacy he Answered that he would Rather than goe to dwell wit h h e r again Renounce he legacy mentioned in the said Will and did Before me Re n o wnce and disclaime all Right to and Interest in the sd legacy an d I n to Every part thereof

William Bonney of Duxbury had land at Namasakeeset in 1 6 9 4 and he died or removed from Duxbury before 1710.

William Clarke of Duxbury made his will 3 January, 1686 / 7 . Bequests were as follows:
To "wife Martha my Eighteen acre Lot with ye orchard ther e i n" "if william Clarke of Plimouth or any other pretending re l a tion to me by blood Expect any of my estate I give him only 18d in silv e r ."
To "william bonny (whom I brought up from his Childhoo d ) m y dwelling house and threescore acre lot togather with all my household st u f f and Cattle of all sorts remaining at my wives decease provided and up o n c ondition that he the sd William Bonny live and remiane in the abovesaid ho u s e with my wife Martha and be carefull to manage and till my land and w e l l Improve my stock for my wives support and comfort according to her advic e , d uring her life, otherwise the sd house land household stuff and stock sh a l l be and remaine in the power and at the only dispose of my wife Martha to g a ther with all debts moneys &c." Wife Martha was made executrix.
The will was signed by a mark. The witnesses were John W a d sworth, Sr., and Ichabod Wiswall. The will was probated 8 June, 1687, b o t h witnesses testifying, at the Inferior Court of Common Pleas, at Ply m o uth.
On 9 March, 1686/7, an inventory of the personal estat e w a s taken by John Soule and John Wadsworth, Sr. The amount was £49, 16s . " M artha Clarke made oath" to the inventory, 8 June, 1687. It was recor d e d by Nathaniel Thomas, Clerk.
On 21 July, 1688, on complaint of "Martha Clarke of Duxbo r o ugh widow" that "William Boney whome her late Husband and she Brough t u p o f a child hath in disorderly maner deserted her Imployment and is Gone a w a y from her and so hath bin absent from her house about three weeks" a warr a n t for his arrest was issued.
"William Boney being brought before me" on 7 August, 16 8 8 , "Answered that he then being of full age when he left her thought he mi g h t then provide for himself as accordingly he had done. The Widdow Cla r k e Desired her husbands will might be Readd to him which was according l y d one And with Respect to ye legecy therein bequeathed to him upon Condi t i on of his Dwelling with her and manageing of her business for her d u r ing her life he would goe home with her and fulfill the said Conditio n a n d Enjoy ye legacy he Answered that he would Rather than goe to dwell wit h h e r again Renounce he legacy mentioned in the said Will and did Before me Re n o wnce and disclaime all Right to and Interest in the sd legacy an d I n to Every part thereof
