BIO: Compiler has encountered considerable confusion regarding this daughter of Henry and Mahala Elizabeth (O'DELL) ELLISON. The first data on this child was found in Joy EDWARDS DAVIS's "Old Speedwell Families, Revised and Updated." Here the girl is listed as "Paradine"; the notation included is that "Paradin md Cum Braden." Marshall WILSON, in "Families of Norris Reservoir Area," takes this a step further when he writes, "7. Paradin - m. Cum Braden; res. Nebraska." Compiler found this child on the 1860 census as "Pauline." An older daughter of the ELLISON's, Eliza, b about 1853, was also referred to in some sources as "Elizabeth". Lawrence EDWARDS and his sister listed this daughter as "Eliza (Elizabeth) ELLISON." Compiler at first listed her with both names. Then in extracting data from the U.S. Census for 1880, it was discovered that "Eliza" had disappeared from the household, but there was a 15-year-old "Elizabeth P." where "Pauline" (age 5) had been in 1870! Neither census record showed a "Paradine" in this household. Compiler suspects strongly that the name of the ELLISON's oldest daughter should read "Eliza" and the younger child should be listed as "Elizabeth Pauline" rather than "Paradine." There has been no confirmation of this theory as of June, 1997, however. In an attempt to confirm the names of the two individuals, compiler contacted Denny and Marla BRUBAKER, 10 June 1997. Their response to this query was that Eliza appeared as "Eliza M." on the 1860 census and the data added to their data base re Elizabeth P. was that their three sources (which included the GRUBBs) list the marriage "Elizabeth Paradine (Pauline) m. Andre Cum BRADEN, 12-24-1884. (Until this message from the BRUBAKERs, compiler did not have the full name of the groom nor the date of this marriage.)
