General Notes for Child William Bradley
William Bradley was unmarried when his mother died. H e j o i n ed Theophilus Eaton, William Davenport, and a ded icat e d g ro up who sailed to Boston Harbor in 1638. The y wer e su ppor te d by the Warwick Patent: "In June, 1638 , the C ompan y o f Lor ds and Gentlemen all grantors of th e Warwic k Pate nt m ade Jo hn Winthrop, Jr., governor fo r them of t he juri sdict ion o f Connecticut and sent hi m with a larg e amoun t of mon ey an d a great army of carp enters, masons , garden ers, an d experi enced engineers t o found a settle ment at t he mout h of the C onnecticut Ri ver with proper a ccommodati ons fo r themselves , but mor e especially to con struct suc h house s as might b e fit t o receive gentleme n of qualit y presentl y come from E ngl and." The construction of the settlement took three years . I n 1 6 4 1, Eaton, Davenport, Rev. Peter Prudden, the yo un g Will i a m Bradley, and others finally reached New Hav en .
