He was conti nuously in public life. Colonel Charles Pinckney was many t imes a member of the Commons House of Assembly, a Justice i n the Commission of the Peace and held many important and d istinguished offices. Their 8 children were: Charles (bor n and died in same year), William, another Charles, Thomas , Mary, William Robert, Miles Brewton, and Rebecca. Charles and Frances Pinckney's son, Charles Pinckney (1757- 1824), married Mary Eleanor Laurens (1770-1794), daughter o f Henry and Eleanor (Ball) Laurens. Charles Pinckney was a lawyer and lieutenant of militia du ring the Revolution. He was captured at Charleston in 178 0 and held prisoner until the end of the war. Col. Miles Brewton (1675-) with his parents and two surviv ing sisters came to South Carolina in 1684 when he was 9 ye ars old. He became a goldsmith which then embraced all form s of banking. In 1709 he was captain of one of the two mili tia companies in Charles Town. In 1717 he was nominated an d appointed Powder Receiver for the Province and held thi s position until his death. He was foreman of the Grand Jur y organized in 1718 to try Stede Bonnet (an accomplice of B lackbeard) and his pirate associates. In July 1740, he wa s appointed on the committee authorized by the General Assembly to investigat e the charges against the South Carolina regiment in Ogleth orpe's St. Augustine expedition of 1740 and in July, 1741 , signed the excellent report made by that committee. He wa s three times married. The name of the first wife has not b een ascertained. His second wife was Susannah Porter, and t hird wife was Mary (Bellamy) Paine. Col. Miles Brewton die d in 1745. By his first wife, he had issue: Robert, Jane, E lizabeth, Ruth, Mary, and Rebecca.

Thomas Pinckney served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Americ an Regiment and saw service in Martinique, Havana, and th e American colonies. He was wounded on the Plains of Abraha m outside Quebec.

William and Ruth Pinckney's son, Charles Pinckney (1731/2- 1782), married his cousin, Frances Brewton (1733- ) who wa s the daughter of Robert and Milicent Brewton. He was conti nuously in public life. Colonel Charles Pinckney was many t imes a member of the Commons House of Assembly, a Justice i n the Commission of the Peace and held many important and d istinguished offices. Their 8 children were: Charles (bor n and died in same year), William, another Charles, Thomas , Mary, William Robert, Miles Brewton, and Rebecca. Charles and Frances Pinckney's son, Charles Pinckney (1757- 1824), married Mary Eleanor Laurens (1770-1794), daughter o f Henry and Eleanor (Ball) Laurens. He was one of the fou r Delegates who represented South Carolina at the United St ates Constitutional Convention in 1787. He served four term s as governor of South Carolina. Charles and Mary Pinckney' s 3 children were: Frances Henrietta, Mary Eleanor, and Hen ry Laurens.
