"By summer of 1870, W.E. Holcombe had moved his family from Oconee County to the same section of town, erecting a house on Lot No. 15.  At the time of the division of Pickens District in 1868, Washington Earle Holcombe, an attorney, acted as a Special Commissioner of Oconee County.  Earlier at Old Pickens, he served in various government posts and was active in the politics of the new County of Pickens.  Holcombe married Elizabeth C. Robinson, a sister of Mrs. James E. Hagood.  In 1875, Holcombe moved to Easley, after which he moved to Liberty to become the first Intendant of that newly-incorporated town in 1876.  Holcombe died in Georgia in 1888." I have some pages copied from  a newsletter 1989--  NEXUS - NEHGS - THE BIMONTHLY NEWSLETTER OF THE NEW ENGLAND HISTORIC GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY - Vol. VI, No. 1  February-March 1989  -  Boston, Mass.

Pages 23-27, goes into detail about the genealogy of the 41st president, George Herbert Walker Bush.   The father of the 41st president was Prescott Sheldon Bush 1895-1972.  There is an ancestor table included that goes back to Timothy Bush, Jr. 1766-1850.  The Prescotts come in through a marriage of Rev. James Smith Bush (1825-1889) to Harriet Eleanor Fay b Savannah, Ga. in 1829. Her grandfather was Samuel Prescott Phillips Fay (1778-1856) and his mother was Lucy Prescott a daughter of Abel Prescott and Abigail Brigham.

I have not connected this to my Prescott Bush (1758-1846) son of Richard Bush and Mary Prescott.
