Hardy GILSTRAP was born in North Carolina about 1769. He livedinthat state until 1805-1810 when he moved his family to thePendletonDistrict, with his brother Lewis GILSTRAP and his family.Hardy owned300 acres along the Twelve Mile River Valley. He died in1829 and hiswife Anna Carlton GILSTRAP and son John were appointed toadministerthe estate.

Born in 1766 in NC, he married Winifred Mumford who diedsometimesbefore 1810 . Benjamin went to work on the freight bargesthen usedon the Cumberland, Ohio and Mississippi. Abners account saysthatBenjamin was killed at a warf landing in St Louis in 1809.Anothersays Louisville in 1815. After his death his children wereraised byhis brother Bright and his wife Selah (Mumford) who was asister toBenjamin's wife Winifred. These children were Jesse(father ofAbner),Nancy, Winnie & Isaac.
