 Wm Abbott served in the Continental Troups and in Marion's Brigadeofthe Militia of SC in 1782 out of the Abbeville District, SC.

1800 Census Spartanburg District, SC p 174 01001 01101 8-22-1803  William Abbott received a grant of 455 acres on bothsidesof Island Creek of Pacolet River bound on North by Young, EastbyCantrell, Therox and Murray, South by unknown lands.  This is NorthofSpartanburg, near the town of Mayo and a short way from Chesnee,andthe Mill Gap Road, Island Ford and the cabin of Robert Scruggs.

His estate was settled January 28, 1819.  Jessie Scrugg purchased265acres of original 455 acre grant.
