The earliest known mention of the name Aber in the United States is that of John Aber (EBER) who married Mary Hulse at Jamaica, L.I., NY in 1717. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Utah and elsewhere." -0- FCA Their residence at time of marriage was given as Sealtucket, Long Island, NY On may 25th, ____ John EBER provided a bond of two pound, two shilling, & 6pence on behalf of Paul Hulse (brother-in-law). John ABER/EBER appears in the Brookhaven Town records --Seversmith Ancestors & Kindred, Vol IV--
Positive identification of this John Aber with the family is not possible due to the destruction of New Jersey records in both the Revolutionary and War of 1812. Is believed due to the fact that many Long Island families migrated to New Jersey for iron work. Also known that John EBERS was an early settler in Germany Flats, Andover, Sussex County, New Jersey.

***** The Snook history claims he served in the Rev. war,although the records of my Grandmother [refers to David Cozart's grandmother] did not include Isreal, but do indicate his three oldest sons did Serve. They were Isreal Jr., Morris Aber and Abner Aber.

Burial Permit for Hercules Snook City, Jan 23, 1899 by Dr. W Fordycee; Junkin & Baker Undertakers. Hercules was twice married, and was the father of 11 children, all but three died before his death.
In 1859, they moved to Lawrence, Kansas, where the wife died in May 1862. About this time there were so many threats of raids on Lawrence by Quantrell and other Missouri Outlaws, that Mr. Snook decided to leave the place and return to Fairfield. Quantrell raided Lawrence early in 1863, burned the town and murdered 140 persons.
