Inherited the title Baron Ogle from his mother in 1629. Defeated by Oliver Cromwell at Marston Moor (2nd July 1644), where many of his own soldiers were among the 4,000 Royalists to be killed. He was so disillusioned that he left England. A week after Marston Moor he arrived in Germany with his brother.Burke's Peerage conflicts with itself under the entries for Northumberland and Devonshire when it describes his sons.
