General Notes for Child Mary Burdine
In the McAdams family cemetery there is a plot with six graves markedby foot stones and a column bearing six names with dates on three ofits sides; father, mother and four children. They all died inlate1849 within about 2 months. No doubt they were victims of anepidemic of smallpox, cholera, or one of the many other diseases thatwere incurable at that time.
The birthday of the mother, Mary Hunt, coincides exactly with that ofPolly Burdine as given in the Burdine/Bowen family Bible. Polly wasthe common nick- name for Mary in that era, so the assumption thatPolly Burdine and Mary Hunt were the same person is probably correct.Lists her nickname as, Polly, as she is listed in her brother, TalleyDavis Burdine's will.
