Nathan gornto was one of the very first settlers of old Irwin Co., GA, being one of the 70 odd families enumerated there in the 1820 the same year the county was organized. He was born Sept. 17, 1779, son of John and Rhoda Jarrett Gornto.
After his children were all grown and married, Nathan and his wife moved back to Brooks Co., GA (Cut from Lowndes Co., GA in 1858), and made their home with their son, Joel, until the smallpox epidemic in the fall of 1860, in which Joel died. Nathan and his wife then hurried away to FL and made their home with another son, David, in Lafayette Co., FL.

General Notes for Child James Robison Vosburgh
In the summer of 1993 Ray and Virginia took Eldon and Ida Vosburgh andwent to visit James and Gladys. We took them to lunch and visited them in their apartment in Battle Creek. James was a very slim, young, active 88 yearsold. He still played golf three times a week. He gave me the pictures of my grandfather Platt, my great grandparents, Frank and Nettie, and my greatgreat grandparents, James and Amanda Vosburgh, all of which Hattie, his mother,had kept. He lived with Amanda as a child together with his parents, Grant andHattie in the house which James built when he came to Michigan in the 1850's. Ifound a map in the library showing where the house was located and we later went looking for it, but only the barn remained. James was a graduate of Union City High School and attended KalamazooNormal Teacher's College. He was employed by Michigan Carton CompanyasTraffic Manager in Material Handling and Warehousing, retiring in 1971after 43 years.
