NEARS 100 YEARS
With Clear Mental Vigor and Remarkable Memory-
Visits Relatives in Morgan County.
(Madisonian) Mrs. Elizabeth Dye, of Elbert county, spent a day and nigh t with Mr. and Mrs. Williford this week. She is a great aun t of Col. Williford, a sister of his grandmother. She was b orn in Jan. 1822, and will be 98 years old her next birthda y. She was born in Elbert County, a daughter of Peter Patri ck Butler. Both her grandfather and her great grandfather w ere soldiers in the war of the Revolution and after this wa r came from Virginia to Elbert and received grants of land . She has personally known many Revolutionary soldiers an d those who knew Mrs. Dye has about 60 direct descendants living, fou r of whom are great great grandchildren.(something seems t o be missing in this sentence, but it is quoted as printed) . Her mind is remarkably clear and she remembers everythin g whether it happened on yesterday or 90 years ago, in minu test detail. Her knowledge of the family history of the fir st settlers of Elbert county is wonderful.
She has been to Atlanta to visit a grand daughter, comin g back by Madison on her way to visit another grand daughte r, Mrs. Hugh Boswell, of Penfield, Ga.

General Notes (Husband)
Pierce Butler was descended from the family of the Dukes o f Ormond, in Ireland. Before the Revolution he was a majo r in a British regiment at Boston. He afterward became an a dvocate of the republican institutions of America. In 178 7 he was a delegate from South Carolina to Congress, and th en a member of the convention which framed the constitutio n of the United States. He was one of the first senators el ected by South Carolina after the adoption of the federal c onstitution. This eminent man died in 1822, at the age of 7 7 years.
