Joseph Start=Sarah Southmayd and Piscilla Roper. Joseph Start=Abigail Baldwin. Comfort Stmx=Marah Weld. Dr. Thomas Starr=Rachel .... Dr. Comfort Start ........ NATHAN STARR. Of Middletown, Conn. Armorer of Col. Comfort Sage's regiment, Connecticut; commissioned June20, 1776. Nathan Starr, born April 14, 1755, a noted worker of iron and steel in Middletown, Conn. On the 20th of June, 1776, was commissioned by Gov. Trumbull, of Connecticut, as armorer in the regiment commanded by Col. Comfort Sage, and in 1812 he obtained a contract of the United States government to manufacture ship swords. Also a contract for muskets. He died before completing the last contract, May 25, 1825. He was also to repair and keep the flint locks of the muskets in order for Connecticut. His son-in-law, Henry Carrington, was drafted in the War of 1812. His cousin, James Starr, was one of the Boston tea party. Reference: Hist. of the Starr Family, by Burges Pratt Starr. See page 142, Conn. Men in the Rev., page 402.
