After the death of her husband, Fanny made her home with her son Wiley, H. D. Carrington in Austin, TX. After living there for some time, she and her daughter Jospehine went to Leon County, TX where they lived many years. It is said that she smoked a pipe. She always wore a large cap, black lace for everyday wear and white lace for Sunday. She wore full, waist aprons every day. She was tall and had a large frame. Her coloring was medium.

William and Fanny sold their land in Orange County, NC about 1823 and migrated to Pleasant Exchange, Henderson, TN. After living at Pleasant Exchange for several years, they removed to Leon County, TX where they spent the remainder of their lives.
