In the 1850 census there is also a person named Washington Shelton,aged 16, who was born in North Carolina, living with this family. He was probably Sarah's brother, or nephew. In the 1860 Marion Co. Alabama Census is Edward and his family. Hisson James is living next door with his new bride, Martha.

These children of Martin are listed in the book "Chastain KithandKin", with the exception of John, Manirva, and Samuel. I visited the Upper Hightower Church cemetery in Towns Co. GA in Sept. 1997, and saw their graves. John's headstone said "Son of M.S. and Nancy Chastain."
Martin died of Measles after he was discharged fromtheConfederate Army.
