May I correct your records: There was no James Warwick Gay.The correct line is :

Jacob Warwick Gay,1802-1856, who married Lucinda Spurgeon,1809-1836. Their issue:

David Allen Gay, 1829-1888. James Dunlap Gay, 1830-1888. He married Elizabeth Hume,1831-1854. Their issue, Maria, 1851-1929 and Lizzie, 1854 who died a few days after her mother. James second marriage was to Lucy Caroline Prewitt, who was my grandmother. Margaret Ann Gay,1832-1835.

I would assume that since you refer to the Spurgeon Quarterly that you are mainly interested in the Spurgeon line. I am always looking for cousins and would be delighted to pursue this further.
