Family stories say John's family left England in 1820 .
name spelled ADCOCK.
The 1880 census records show John was still spelling
the name ADCOCK. The 1900 census shows the spelling
as ADCOX.
He served in the Civil War in Company C, 9th regiment, of the Iowa
Calvary from the 23rd of September 1863 to 24th of June 1865.
According to his application for his pension, He contracted the measles
while in the service, and they settled in his system and badly affected
his lungs and head which which entirely ruined his health.

He lived in Linn County for a while and then moved to Sumner, Missouri where his children were. born. The 1900 census for Chariton Co. Mo. shows he owned his farm free of montage. In July of 1909, a flood made the family move for a while. He is buried in Sumner, Missouri.

Don had Diabetes since he was 14. He had what is called Brittle Diabetes. He loved music and taught himself to play the guitar. He was baptized on December 25, 1978, into the RLDS faith. He is buried in Eudora Kansas Cemetery. When he died he was working for the state of Kansas in Topeka. He graduated from Eudora High School, Eudora, Kansas in May 1973 and from Clark Business College in Topeka, Kansas. He was a member of Boy scout Troop 3064.
