General Notes (Husband)
Fred Millis states in his book that John came to James River in Virginia, between 1620-1630, which must be referring to an ancestor.
General Notes (Wife)
Elizabeth was listed as a red-haired Scottish beauty by Fred Millis in his book. Her father Jacob was an immigrant to New Kent County, Virginia, about 1667 at the time of his marriage. Jacob was a Captain in the British army. The Virginia Magazine of History and Biography states that Jacob was on trial on September 29, 1690 for uttering seditions charges against the King and his Governor in Virginia, but was cleared. The magazine further states Jacob was: valiant; that he was in charge of eighteen men who were sent out to join in a hunt for the man who had stolen a horse. Jacob's name appears in property matters in King and Queen County, Virginia (the sucessor to Kent County) and in Pittsylvania County. Virginia. The family eventually moved to Georgia.

General Notes (Husband)
According to the Millis/Clark families book by Fred Millis published in 1944, John came to Virginia from England and settled on the James River and he was married to a "red-headed Scotch lady". Sons Jonathan and George Rogers were famous Generals. The history books are full of their exploits and are worth the reading. Son William was co-leader of the famed Lewis & Clark expedition of 1804
General Notes (Wife)
An old book titled Culpepper County Marriages states that Ann was John's cousin. This was true because Ann's father was Giles Rogers whose ancestors go back to Edward I of England (see Clark Royalty file) and whose father, Giles, is a direct ancestor of John.
General Notes for Child William Clark
On May 14, 1804 William with co-leader Captain Meriwether Lewis, President Jefferson's private secretary, started up the Missouri river with 45 explorers on the famed Lewis & Clark expedition.
