General Notes (Husband)
Michael Cloninger in 1793 bought 270 acres of land from George Misconak. This land was north of the 250 acre tract of Nicholas Hillerman and Philip's(his father). Michael bought 10 acres on the corner from Hillerman joining his. In 1813 Michael bought 150 acres on the north side of his tract from William, Richard and John Martin. Michael would have had 430 acres now, but in 1811, he deeded a tract of land on the east side to his son John Cloninger, who sold this tract to John Fenison on October 16, 1820. Michael had about 360 acres at the time of his death. Michael and Anna Cloninger had 4 girls and 4 boys. Michael left a will in 1828 naming all 8 of his children.
Gravesite was found in 1985 by Carlisle Cloninger. Gravesite is now fenced with a plaque marking the site. There are a total of six graves at the site. Source: home.earthlink.net/~telem/cloninger.html

This land was about one mile east of Claremont in modern Catawba Co., NC, and ran south across Macklin Creek to the Bogg's line. John Cloninger and Dolly Summit had 12 children, 10 boys and 2 girls.

General Notes for Child Henry Cloninger
Moved to Tennessee in 1845. Lived off Strawberry Plains Rd, about 10 miles east of Knoxville, TN, near present day U.S. Hwy. 70.(1999) Moved his family to Carter Co., Missouri, before 1860. He is there with his wife Mary in the census of 1860 with a son named William, born in TN in 1855. In the Howell Co., Missouri, census of 1870, Henry has a new wife, Mandy, and two young sons, James and Lawson. At first glance it was thought this was a daughter of Henry's and the children his grandsons, because Henry is 70 and Mandy is 26, James is 2 and Lawson is 1. There is a marriage record of Henry Cloninger to Amanda Fagga in Carter, MO, 1 Oct. 1868. In the 1880 census of Howell Co., Mo, Henry, 82, is alone with sons James, 12, and Lawson, 10. Henry must have died around 1890. James and Lawson are in a book "The First Land Owners of Howell Co., MO". James F. and Lawson Cloninger minor heirs of Henry Cloninger, August 19, 1890. General Notes for Child Daniel Cloninger

Thomas Cloninger bought it back in 1831 and sold to John Cloninger Jr. in 1838. John Jr. sold the land to William Long in 1840. The land was sold in small tracts after 1870. Daniel Cloninger moved to Tennessee around 1830. Source: home.earthlink.net/~telem/cloninger.html
