 He crossed the plains from Iowa with his parents in 18 5 2 t o Portland where they were early settler s . He wa s a builder by trade .  H e built what is now the oldest ho me in Seaside, locate d a t 618 N. Holliday St..  In 1971 , this house is being oc cupi ed by May Coffman, second wif e of Levi D. Coffman, Jr. He was associated for many years with Ben Holliday. He was the Mayor of Seaside, Or. in 1900.         H e w a s a veteran fireman of Portland.  Multnomah Chapter , Comp an y 2.  He lived many years in Astoria, then move d to Seas ide . During the late months of his life, he live d in Portl and. He was elected Justice of the Peace for Seaside Precinc t a n d took oath of office on 14 Jun 1890.  It is said he was also a self-ordained mini s t er, conducting church services in his own home becaus e n o o ne would perform this service.
