BIO: Ms. BARNES writes that she took William's birthdate from his tombstone at Carmel Cem., Hanover Twp., Jefferson Co., IN. This should be accurate; however the 1860 Census gives his age as "23" as of Aug. 13, 1860. Calculating birthdate from this would give a year of birth as 1836 or 1837. Ms. BARNES also states that William died unmarried.
