"Born Jones County, Georgia. Son of Samuel and Nanc y ( W a d sworth) Feagin. Samuel was a native of Feaginsvi lle , n o w C arthage, North Carolina. This was a villag e name d i n h ono r of the family. His mother was a nativ e of Wa rre n Cou nty , Georgia. He was the grandson of Ric hard Fea gin , who w as b orn in North Carolina of Irish pa rentage a nd i n hono r of Ja mes Wadsworth of English dece nt, a plan ter i n Jone s County , Georgia. Major Feagins f ather move d fro m North C arolina t o Georgia when a youn g man, marri ed hi s first wif e who die d in 1836 - settli ng in woods o f Bull ock County ( now Midway ). Post Maste r in his own s tore un til death i n 1848. foug ht agains t Indians in Ala bama. Me mber of "Cow ikee Spies" un til 1 838.
