Julia Dean was an American actress noted for her beauty an d loveliness. She first appeared in Charleston in 1852, pla ying her greatest role in "The Hunchback". She is picture d in a mural at the Footlight Players Workshop in Charlesto n. She was granted a divorce from Arthur P. Hayne by Judg e Elias Smith in the Great Salt Lake City Probate Court, Te rritory of Utah for neglect and lack of support. The Juli a dean Hayne Divorce Proceedings (1865-1866) are availabl e as Manuscript #293 in the University of Utah Marriott Lib rary. Julia Dean Hayne was awarded custody of their three c hildren, Arthur, Robbie, and Julia.
