In the census of 1800 he is listed as Anthony's age was over 45. On 20 November 1778, an order was issued by the office of land claims of Orange Co. N.C. for the survey of land claimed by Anthony Cozort. The land is described as lying in Orange Co. on both sides of Dyals Creek, a branch of Flat River, containing six hundred and forty acres, adjoining the lands of Parson Carrington Goss. A deed from the state of North Carolina to anthony Cozort for the same 640 Acres, dated March 13, 1780, gives the price of the land as fifty shillings ( $6) for every hundred acres.
Anthony's parents, his birthplace, and the dates of his birth and death are not known. Anthony is listed in the first U.S. census of Orange Co. in 1790s. In the census of 1800 he is listed with a household of two boys age 16-26, one girl age 10-16, and one female age 26-45, probably his wife. Anthony's age was over 45. The ages of the family suggest he was a young manwhen he settled in N.C. in the 1770's. A free colored female and eight slaves of various ages are also listed in his household in 1880. Grandma lived to be 100 years old. We held a 100 year birthday party for her in Susanville. There were over 200 friends and relatives in attendance. Grandma loved it, but was really tired afterwards. As a matter of fact, she only lived a few weeks after. She left 23 Grandchildren, 42 Great-grandchildren and 26 great, great grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and even sewed for the Red Cross durring WW2. she was also a life long member of the American Legion. Grandma (FESMIRE) married Sam when she was in her 70s. We all thought it strange. They were happy, however. She outlived him. Sam's daughter, Vergie cared for Grandma for years until she passed away.

Noel was born without testicles or a penis. He carried a bag strapped to this leg. He died at about 23 years of age in California. Noel had a great gift for mechanical things. He fixed the family vehicles whenever the need arose.

William Cozort was born on his father's farm in NC in 1780. He lived there until sometime in the 1840s.
In the 1820 census, Williams ousehold included one boy age 10-16, one girl 10-16, one boy 0-10, four girls 0-10, one woman 26-45, and two female slaves. The boy listed at age 0-10 was Robert Harrison Cozort born in 1812. The boy and girl age 10-16 could not have been children of Dicey which leads to the belief that William had been married before. The boy was probably James Cozort who later lived in Wayne Co. , Missouri. The census of 1840 lists William at age 60, his wife 40-50, three girls 15-20, one boy 10-15, one girl 10-15, one boy 5-10, one boy 1-5, and three slaves. The boy 10-15 was Chesley Cozart who inlisted in the army in Missouri in 1862. Robert, James and two of the girls listed in 1829 were no longer in the household. William is listed in the 1850 census with his son Robert's household in Wayne County, Missouri. His wife is not listed, indicating that she had died during the 1840's. There is no further record of William and we may assume he died in the 1850's.
