In 1773 he and his pregnant wife Elizabeth left Belfast, Northern Ireland, aboard the 350-ton "Pennsylvania Farmer" bound for Charleston, SC. The group was sponsored by a Presbyterian (Church of Scotland) preacher, Mr. MARTIN.
In Rutherford Co., NC, Deed Book J-L, p. 173, is recorded that he acquired 200 acres on Long Branch of Pacoket on 15 March 1794.
General Notes (Wife)
In 1773 she gave birth to her first child, John, enroute to South Carolina. He was buried at sea before arrival.
