MRS. LOTTIE C. ESTES

Mrs. Lottie Crosby Estes, 90, a widely known retired educatorandone of this section's most highly respected and beloved residence, died at 1:30 yesterday afternoon in Anderson Memorial Hospital.
"Miss Lottie", as she was affectionately known tocountlessnumbersof her former pupils, had been in critical condition since shehadsuffered a broken hip in a fall about 10 days ago. News of her passing will be received with sorrow throughout this and other counties.
During her long and untiring career as an educator, Mrs.Estesserved faithfully and efficiently as teacher and later as principal ofthesame school, Glenn Street, for half a century. Following her retirement,the school was renamed Estes Elementary School, in her honor.
Mrs. Estes was born in Anderson June 8, 1869, and spent all ofher long and useful life in this city. She was a daughter of thelateDavid Crosby and Emuline Nevitt Crosby, pioneer residents of thissection.Her husband, the late Rev. Belton P. Estes, a Baptist minister,precededherto the grave in 1910.
Since early in life Mrs. Estes had been a faithful anddevotedmember of the First Baptist Church of this city, where through the yearsshehad been a leading spirit in all phases of the church Sundayschoolandwomen's work. Despite advancing years, she had continued active andinterestedin the work she loved.
Surviviors include the following neices and nephews:CommanderPaul Clark, of Anderson, William N. Clark, of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Emma Gordon, Mrs. B.C. Cromer, Miss Martha Clark, Miss Eugenia Clark,allof this city and Miss Fannie Clark of Union.
Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church of Anderson at 3 p m Sunday. Dr. Cort R. Flint, pastor, and theRev.Woodrow W. Herrin will conduct the services. Burial will follow inthefamilyplot in Silver Brook cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: R. E. Burriss, William D. Brown, EarleRice,K. C. McAlister, Glenn McClain, and Clarence Ellison.
The family will be at the residence of Mrs. Emma Gordon, 427 East River Street, pending the hour of the service.
